USA : Wendy's pretzel sandwiches

Wendy's strategy to differentiate its sandwich offerings with upscale bread.

• Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger: available with either breaded homestyle, grilled or spicy chicken fillets. It includes tomato, spring mix, a slice of Muenster cheese, Cheddar cheese sauce and honey mustard. Suggest retail price of $4.69
• Pretzel Pub Chicken sandwich: made with tomato, spring mix Muenster cheese, Cheddar cheese sauce and honey mustard.  Suggested retail price of $4.79, which is 10 cents higher than the $4.69 suggested retail price for its cheeseburger counterpart.

The Dublin, Ohio-based operator of 6,545 restaurants in the U.S. and 28 international markets, 1,005 of which are company-owned and 5,540 of which are franchised, said it plans to sell all of its Canadian company-owned units to franchisees.
